Diego's Week — A Quick Recap
A short read on the week that was, so nothing gets lost between tournaments.
A good week. Home sessions plus class, and his forms are starting to look sharp — held stances, crisp techniques instead of a rushed blur. The sparring variety is coming; he still falls back on his one big kick when he gets excited.
- Forms — slow-motion then sharp. Holding stances and snapping techniques far more than a month ago.
- Sparring — combinations and feints. Setting up his kicks in shadow work; still telegraphs the lead live.
- Control — one controlled form to a standard. Reined himself back to sharp instead of rushing.
The form he ran sharp and controlled all the way through — deep stances, crisp snaps, no rushing. Same power he's always had, but controlled, which is what scores. That's the whole idea.
- Keep the stance and slow-forms work first — it's where the sharpness comes from.
- One sparring session where he commits to setting up every kick with a feint or combo.
- Breathing and control before his next tournament — sharp, not fast.
One thing to keep an eye on: in forms, does he hold his stances and snap his techniques, or rush and blur them? In sparring, does he set up his kicks or throw the same one? And when he speeds up, does he rein it back? Those are the tell for everything else.
