Cole's Week — A Quick Recap
A short read on the week that was, so nothing gets lost between rounds.
A good week. Two range sessions and a nine-hole practice round, and the wedges kept looking more like known numbers than guesses. The driver is still the project — solid on the range, leaked right twice under a little pressure on the course.
- Wedges — the clock system at 50, 75, 100. The 75 is becoming automatic; the 100 still runs a touch short.
- The driver — the stay-in-the-chair drill. Better on the range, not yet trusted on a tight tee.
- The reset — one bad hole in the practice round, followed by a par. Small, but that's the whole game.
The par after the double on the practice round's 5th. He said it felt like nothing — which is exactly the skill. Three months ago that double becomes a triple.
- Keep the wedge reps first, before he's tired.
- One tight-tee-shot rep at a time — 3-wood, find the fairway.
- A full pre-round routine before Saturday's event.
One thing to keep an eye on: after a bad shot, does he re-set his routine or just rake another ball and swing faster? The reset is the tell.
