Eli's Week — A Quick Recap

A short read on the week that was, so nothing gets lost between games.

The headline

A good week. Two backyard sessions and a doubleheader, and the two-strike approach is starting to look automatic. The routine footwork is calmer; the pull-happy hack still sneaks back when he's tired late in a game.

What we worked on

  • Two-strike hitting — front toss the other way. He's fighting off the pitch away instead of chasing it.
  • Routine footwork — field-and-set. Feet slower, throws on time, fewer rushed ones.
  • The reset — a strikeout followed by a clean routine play in game two. Small, but that's the whole thing.

What stood out

The 0-2 single the other way in the second game. He choked up, shortened, and slapped it — the exact at-bat we'd drilled. A month ago that's a big hack and a walk back to the dugout.

For next week

  • Keep the oppo tee work first, before he's tired.
  • One game where he commits to the two-strike approach every single time he gets there.
  • A pre-game routine run-through before Saturday's tournament.

One thing to keep an eye on: on the routine grounder, do his feet stay calm, or does the big moment speed them up? The feet are the tell for everything else.
